On the basis
of existing Mines and Mineral Act, 2042 and Mines and Mineral Regulations,
2056, DMG issues the Exploration and Mining Licenses to the interested
entrepreneurs. In FY 2064/65 it has issued 173 licenses
for Limestone-69, Coal-34, Iron-15, Copper-9, Gold-6, Mica-5, and
35 for other minerals like zinc, lead, quartz, talc, kyanite, tourmaline,
marble, quartzite etc. and renewed 133 prospecting licenses mainly
for limestone-81, coal-23, quartz-7, kyanite-4, iron-2, gold-2,
mica-2, and 12 for marble, tourmaline, corundum etc. Similarly DMG
has also issued 7 new Mining licenses (for limestone-2, coal-2,
and one each for kyanite, quartz and mica) and renewed 67 Mining
licenses (limestone-17, coal-24, talc-8, marble-6, quartz-2, clay-4,
tourmaline-2, kyanite-2, and one each for mica and magnesite. Production
of different mineral commodities in the last ten years is given
in table-4 below.
