The Department
of Mines and Geology exercises her duties and responsibilities according
to the organizational structure passed by the government/ cabinet
on 26 Ashadh 2057BS (10 July 2001). Director General is the Chief
of the Department. Under him there are 3 Divisions namely (1) Geo-Sciences,
(2) Mineral Resources, and (3) Technical and Administration Services
Divisions; 4 Sub-divisions, and 25 Sections, 1 National (in Kathmandu)
and 1 Regional (in Birendranagar, Surkhet) Seismological Centre
and 1 Petroleum Exploration Promotion Project (PEPP). All these
Divisions, Sub-Divisions, Sections, Centers and Projects are actively
involved to achieve the goals of the department. (Refer Organization
Chart, Fig-1). This is the framework for the management of the department.
DMG has a total manpower of 232 (207+14+11) staff comprising of
173 technical and 59 non-technical personnel. Its detail is presented
in the table-1, below.
